I love Tocai Friulano... Since 2008 we can call this wine only Friulano according to the European legislation. This vine variety can be interpreted in many ways that stimulates its wine-making. I prefer a Friulano with a strong, incomparable character. It should reflect the D.O.C. Friuli Grave zone: aromatic, with fine, structured body. I have called my Friulano "Bianco", because it represents for me work, effort and continuous research of the vinification processes. It is the quintessence of what I define "white wine".
Straw yellow with golden reflexes, this wine is warm and intense on the nose. At the beginning one can perceive perfumes of caramel and acacia honey. Then it opens to citrus fruits, fresh mint and hints of bitter almond. On the palate the wine is wide, round and velvety and shows mineral notes. In the final you can perceive again the almond taste which is typical for the vine variety Friulano. This wine has complex structure, as the impressive olfactory and gustatory impact shows. This wine is just how I imagined it to be. Bianco is obtained from the vine variety (Tocai) Friulano, cultivated in the vineyard of Visinale (Pasiano), on a sunny ground with lean clay soil.

This wine is just how I imagined it to be. Bianco is obtained from the vine variety (Tocai) Friulano, cultivated in the vineyard of Visinale (Pasiano), on a sunny ground with lean clay soil. These vines were planted over thirty years ago and give us gold yellow, healthy and equilibrate grapes during each grape harvest. This wine is made with handpicked and selected grapes, harvested in perfect health conditions and well ripened. In the cellar we take care that it passes a short time between the harvest and the wine-making processes. Refinement takes place 80% in steel tanks and 20% in oak tonneaux and lasts 14-16 months. The wine so obtained is bottled without adding any kind of clarification and without filtration. The good balance between acidity and tannins allows this wine a further maturation in the bottle.
We recommend a serving temperature of 14° C and to open the bottle at least one hour before its consume. It is the interaction with oxygen which opens up the wine and increases the aromatics. This wine goes well with seasoned cheese, shellfish risotto, white meats, fish, hors d’oeuvre dishes and is excellent with San Daniele ham. In order to enjoy its bouquet we recommend a great opened glass.
